Welcome to the Catwalk for Kidneys page for Suzy Pohl.  Suzy is no stranger to the Northeast Kidney Foundtation - she's been volunteering for many years.  Volunteering is something of a family affair for Suzy and her mom and dad.  Suzy's dad David was a heart and kidney transplant recipient.  Her sister was a living donor to her dad.  Suzy is also participating as a donor family representative, because when her brother died as a result of an automobile accident, Suzy's family made the very brave decision to donate his organs, saving the lives of others.  She are participating in memory of Suzy's dad and brother.

Chronic kidney disease is a major health problem!  More than 26 million Americans are affected and one out of every three of us are at risk for developing it!  Diabetes and high blood pressure are the two leading causes.  In addition, more than 10,000 New Yorkers are waiting for a life saving transplant.  By supporting this event you are helping local programs and services including grants that assist with medical, nutrition and housing needs; Kidney Club support group programs that provide patients and family members with the tools they need to live positively with kidney disease; clinical, community and patient education programs; school based programs that teach our kids about lifelong kidney health; free community screenings that can identify kidney disease in its earliest stages - when it's most treatable; and healthcare advocacy that has protected access to medications; helped pass valuable legislation that will help improve organ registration in our great state; and so much more!

There are a number of ways you can support!  Please consider making a donation at the link above. You can also purchase tickets here (https://healthykidneys.org/event/2018-catwalk-for-kidneys-presented-by-macys/) and become part of the encouragement squad for the event!  (Be sure and reference me in the memo section so that your purchases count toward my fundraising goal!)  However you support Catwalk for  Kidneys, know that your support makes a difference and helps those right here in our community fight kidney disease!

See you on October 28!
